Welcome to a new Davidized
Last updated Sep 24, 2009 by David Williamson (0) CommentsI realize that I’ve done exactly nothing since the last time I made a big change to Davidized and yet I’ve decided to do some big-time reworking again. This time however, instead of changing the theme I’ve changed what’s going on behind the scenes.
The most apparent of these changes involves the changes to the urls of everything on the site. I recently purchased the domain davidwilliamson.me to use as an electronic portfolio allowing me to maintain Davidized and the projects involved with it as a purely personal project. What this means is that now there are various subdomains in use for different parts of my sites, a summary of these domains and subdomains is below.
- http://davidwilliamson.me/ – The main launchpad for all of my sites, projects, etc. Not really a whole lot of content or very frequent updates.
- http://portfolio.davidwilliamson.me/ – My electronic resume/cv/portfolio. Mostly for potential employers, but feel free to check it out. (It’s not quite finished yet, so you’ll have to come back later)
- http://blog.davidized.com/ – This blog. Hopefully I’ll be able to get back into the swing of blogging again and keep this up for a while.
- http://projects.davidized.com/ – Home for projects of mine that other people might be interested in, like my NaNoRC plugin for Wordpress.
When planning for this new setup I knew that I really didn’t want to use 4 separate wordpress installations so I started exploring other possibilities. In the end I decided to use Wordpress Multi-User (the same software that is running Wordpress.com) along with the wpmu plugin Multi-Site Manager to allow me to use multiple domains. It took me a little while to get used to administering 4 different wordpress sites at once, but once I got the hang of it everything it’s actually pretty slick.
As usual, things are still being worked on so they may break or change over time. Please bear with me as I get everything back up and working again – if you notice anything that doesn’t seem right, don’t hesitate to get in contact with me.
